Mice at NYC location of Pinkberry
Oh no! Say it ain’t so Pinkberry! ABC Eyewitness News in NYC caught some video footage of mice roaming freely in a Pinkberry store located on the upper east side of Manhattan (82nd and Second Ave.) The news crew came out to film the rodents after they were notified by several residents in the area that noticed the mice roaming the store at 2:30 in the morning. When asked about the problem, store manager Dan Morrissey had this to say:
“Last night we had our exterminators come out. We re-cleaned again this morning after their visit … Their going to be coming by twice a week now”.
So is this a problem isolated to that Pinkberry store on the upper east side? Maybe not. The story goes on to say that the 32nd Street location of Pinkberry also had problems with mice and barely passed a recent health department inspection.
For those of you unfamiliar with the store, Pinkberry is a popular yogurt that quickly expanded here in Los Angeles and now in NYC. We frequently check out the West LA location of Pinkberry and its been pretty good to us thus far. However, there was one incident where a friend of mine had ordered Pinkberry Yogurt with fruit and found a dead ladybug in the fruit. Needless to say, I was a little more careful with what I was eating from Pinkberry next time.

Ron Moore - "The Sopranos Ends Perfectly"
Ron Moore, producer of Battlestar Galactica, posted up his opinion of the Sopranos series finale and had this to say about David Chase’s ending:
“Yep, that’s it. He really did it. The man has guts. No, that’s not enough. The man has balls the size of Volkswagens.”
Moore goes on to say:
“It’s poetic. It’s exciting. It’s perfect.
And most of all, I wish I’d thought of it first.”
AMEN to that. I know there are a lot of you out there who wished for a more conclusive ending to the Sopranos.. but:
1. You went through 6 seasons of the Sopranos. Did you really think he was going to do that?
2. Would any ending really give anyone satisfaction? Does a television series that tries to be as realistic as possible have to end on a resolution? Life goes on folks - or maybe it doesn’t.. who knows? But that’s how life is - you walk away from a person or a set of people and guess what - life goes on.
Truly a beautiful ending.
Kontrib.com has a new look
Kontrib.com quietly unveiled a new look and feel late last night.. and I like it! It still has a way to go but it’s a major improvement over the original site launch design. I love the ability to link to flickr images - makes a world of difference to submitted stories if you ask me!
If you’re into machine translation, language technologies, statistical machine translation, social bookmarking, or just plain news.. then hop on over to Kontrib.com. I think you’ll enjoy it!

Ask questions on wis.dm
I came across a new unique social networking site today. It’s called wis.dm and it’s based off a simple concept. Ask a yes/no question and get answers from the community. Registered users can also post up comments on the questions. Sounds pretty simple right? Well in fact it is.. and although I initially laughed at the idea, it soon became apparent to me that I was hooked.. drawn in more like it. Read one question and you can’t help but read additional questions. Of course, one could argue this is simply an intelligent form of “hot or not”.
