Lyrics of the day ….
A funny thing happened along the way while I was playing with the new Zune Software and Zune Marketplace - I rediscovered my music collection. More importantly - I’ve gone back to some of the old songs that I used to listen to all the time as a teenager - and for some of those songs.. I’ve actually begun to listen and understand those words now that I’m supposedly an adult (I suppose life was indeed easier as a teenager/kid eh?).
One such song that I just came across this afternoon was a song from New Order called "All The Way" which is on their album "Technique". Love the lyrics!! Here they are (thanks to sing365.com):
"It doesn’t take a genius to tell me what I am
Or lecture me with poetry
And tell me that I can
I don’t remember what happened yesterday
But I don’t give a damn about what all those people say.
It takes years to find the nerve
To be apart from what you’ve done
To find the truth inside yourself
And not depend on anyone
It takes years to find the nerve
To be apart from what you’ve done
To find the truth inside yourself
And not depend on anyone.
It don’t take no Houdini
To tell me what I am
Parasites and literasites
They’d burn me if they can
But I don’t give a damn about what those people say
They pick you up and kick you out
They hurt you every day.
It takes years to find the nerve
To be apart from what you’ve done
To find the truth inside yourself
And not depend on anyone
It takes years to find the nerve
To be apart from what you’ve done
To find the truth inside yourself
And not depend on anyone.
It takes years to find the nerve
To be apart from what you’ve done
To find the truth inside yourself
And not depend on anyone
It takes years to find the nerve
To be apart from what you’ve done
To find the truth inside yourself"
I think the words that really stuck out came from the chorus:
"It takes years to find the nerve.. to be apart from what you’ve done..
To find the truth inside yourself.. and not depend on anyone."
"Cats are better than dogs" over at the Onion
Ah this posting made my morning.. It’s over at the Onion and it’s entitled “Cats Are Better Than Dogs”. The best part is the Counterpoint at the end of the article. It was exactly what I was thinking of when I read the article. Hahha..
http://www.theonion.com/content/point/cats_are_better_than_dogs
and for the record.. I love dogs and I hate cats.
Thanks to Cody for this linky..
Human Tetris II
Here’s an utterly hilarious video from a Japanese game show. The video is entitled “Human Tetris II”.. and yeah.. it’s pretty much self explanatory.
Thanks to Chi for this linky.
My costume for Halloween
Oh yes.. here’s one picture of myself and my friend William at work. I am the ghoul on the right hand side. Notice the tongue sticking out? Yes - I’m not the guy from Scream - but from Scary Movie instead!! Hilarious cheap costume!!
It’s November already? I thought it was just January!!
I can’t believe it’s November already! Wow.. time flies doesn’t it? Seems like it was only yesterday that it was.. well.. January! It’s been an eventful year by far.. but first things first - Happy Belated Halloween!! Hope everyone had fun this Halloween and more importantly - stayed safe. I went out with John, Janet, and Hoa to a Yelp.com party. Yup.. I think that was only the second time I had ever heard of Yelp to be honest with you. Most everyone at this small shindig were local community members of Yelp. Yelp’s an online community of folks who provide reviews of all sorts of things - from restaurants to places to events. It’s also a great way to network and socialize with others in your area - especially if you’re new to a particular city. The party event itself was here:

I’m still searching for the pictures that some of the photographers there took of us.. we looked hilarious folks! I’ll post up my pictures later tonight. Fun stuff… (you’ll also be able to find it on my facebook page later on).
It’s nearing the holiday season now which means it’s time to save up for Christmas gifts.. dang it.. more importantly, it’s time to save money for Black Friday! I think I do the majority of my shopping on Black Friday anyhow! I’m sure this year’s sales will be crazy.. but for the techno freaks out there - there’s no real must have product this season - no Xbox 360 console to wait in line for nor Sony PlayStation 3 console. Yes.. it’s going to be a bit boring if you ask me.
I’m still playing a little bit of volleyball here and there though I don’t really play in Westside anymore. I’m just not into the competitive side anymore.. I think I like the open gyms that I occasionally head over to. I actually go regularly to an open gym in Temple City nowadays. Sometimes you’ll see me over at FCBC at the beginning of the months too.
About the only thing I still enjoy at a somewhat competitive basis is softball but even that’s borderline. I suppose the athletic competitive side of me is starting to dwindle.
One activity I’m thinking about picking up is Karate since my brother is actively involved with that. I’ve been thinking I need something that teaches me discipline as well as an activity that keeps me in some semblance of shape. Heh… We’ll see.. there is an interesting place here in West LA that I’d like to check out. Anyone want to check it out too?
Finally, I’m still recovering from my sprained left ankle that I got from Saturday. Stupid me.. I was running a slightly modified route here in West LA and I wasn’t looking.. and then.. POP! (or was it more a crack?). My left foot rolled as a result of running over a crack on the sidewalk.. #@$%!$@!@
Alrighty.. that’s it for now. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. It’s November - start of the short journey to the end of the year!!!
