Pinkberry in some legal woes

Uh oh.. it looks like Pinkberry’s running into a little trouble with the law? According to the California Department of Food and Agriculture, Pinkberry’s does not count as “frozen yogurt” because it’s made in the store using a combination of plain yogurt and some sort of secret powder concoction. Frozen yogurt has to be mixed off-site and delivered to the site as frozen yogurt.. which Pinkberry’s is not.

Now the question remains - what is in the powder that Pinkberry uses with plain yogurt? Pinkberry remains mum on it but this week a civil lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court by Bryan Williams who claims that the powder mix lacks the bacterior usually found in yogurt. Apparently what Williams wants to really know is - what’s in the powder exactly? Good question .. of course Pinkberry wants to keep that a secret since letting this information out could potentially create even more competitors out there and potentially level the playing field for “frozen yogurt” (if you can even call it that).

So Pinkberry (or Crackberry according to some) is in a bit of a bind. Personally.. I don’t care. As long as the stuff isn’t bad for me.. I’ll continue to have it here and there. They opened up a location in West LA and man..it’s good stuff.
