Announcement..
This was the email that I sent out to my friends and family a few weeks back:
Dear Family and Friends,
It all started with volleyball.
I had been asked to play on a reverse coed volleyball team over at Fairfax HS on Tuesday nights back in 2004. My very first game was on January 27th, 2004 and it was there where I first met Yvonne, who happened to also be my fellow teammate. Unfortunately we really didn’t talk all that much (maybe it was my bad sets?) that first night. In fact, the conversations didn’t begin until the next day at work – and it was all over email no less!
Our first set of conversations involved a snowboarding trip (and really about how I could not snowboard) which led to other topics and soon, this led to a realization that there was something real here between the two of us. Shortly thereafter, we started dating and things really fell right into place. Now of course, this isn’t to say that everything was picture perfect of course. We had our spats and differences but somehow, things always ended up working out in the end. Yes, I was truly blessed with Yvonne’s presence in my life.
In Yvonne, I found someone whom I could actually call my other half or even better half. In her, I was able to share all things good and bad - big or small. Sure it wasn’t always easy and there were growing pains between the two of us but at the end of the day, Yvonne was the love of my life. She was many things to me - a partner I could laugh and joke with, a volleyball partner, a cooking/food network partner, a movie/TV partner, someone to share adventures partner, and ultimately and most importantly, a best friend and life long partner.
It’s truly amazing how fate works sometimes. I happened to have met the right set of people that got me introduced to the Westside league which led me to Yvonne. To that end, I have to give credit to my great friend Kerwin Kam who introduced me to my friend Mia Chan who then introduced me to my other friend Curtis Lew who got me in touch with Ray who helps run Westside. Phew.. that’s a long credit list huh?
So after all this, you’re probably wondering what this email is all about. Well… (drum roll please..)
I happy to announce that Yvonne and I are now engaged!
WOO HOO!!!!!
OK folks – settle down now!! We have not settled on a date as of yet but we have targeted the first half of next year for our wedding. Keep that time frame in mind please and we will let all of you know soon enough when the actual date will be. We will also probably set up a website for the wedding so stay tuned!
Thanks again to everyone who has helped and supported us over the last few years. It’s an exciting time and the two of us look forward to the road ahead.
