DVD review - Hostage

Yvonne and I watched Hostage last night - starring Bruce Willis, Kevin Pollak and various other nobody’s - and we found the movie to be … “eh…” What does that mean exactly? On a 5 point scale, I’d offer it a 2.5 at most. Basically the movie is about two different hostage situations. Bruce Willis’s family is held hostage by a group that wants him to end a hostage situation with another family. The story is fairly straightforward but it ends up being a mostly action flick with little substance. Willis is of course psychologically hindered by a past botched operation when he was a negotiator but he manages to save the day. The acting is subpar by many of the costars and the dialog is bland. About the only thing really cool with the movie is Pollak’s house. Heck.. Pollak is the costar and he’s only awake for maybe 20 minutes of the movie! Blah…
