NCAA Mens Volleyball Championships

I saw a really great match last night at the Pauley Pavilion at UCLA where the mens volleyball teams from UCLA and Pepperdine faced off for the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship. Pepperdine won game 1 and then UCLA came storming back to win games 2 and 3. Pepperdine recovered to tie the match in game 4 and then dominated game 5 - 15 - 10. I was simply awed by the height of the Pepperdine players.. my goodness they were tall. Sean Rooney and Jon Parfitt were having monster nights on the UCLA defense. However, you have to hand it to UCLA - they put up a great effort and actually had a chance in winning this. The UCLA team had a far better jump serving group than the Pepperdine team which equalized the scoring. But when it came to blocking and hitting, Pepperdine had the definite edge.

One of the best things about living here in the So.Cal. region is the chance to check out many of the regional sports which makes this area so unique. These are some of the things that I wish a school like Cornell had. *sigh*.. (also makes me wonder if I should have pursued baseball a bit more in college).
